Marshall Shoemaker is the founder of Flocking Behavior. Before returning to his native South Carolina in July 2000, he was a sixteen year resident of Northern California: San Francisco, Berkeley and El Cerrito. There he spent 14 years in high tech sales, marketing and production management – at companies including AutoDesk, Sanctuary Woods Multimedia, Berkeley Systems and FileMaker – and 2 years in retail fiancial services – at PaineWebber (now UBS) and in his own California Registered Investment Advisory firm.
In July 2004 Marshall moved from Charleston, South Carolina, to Atlanta, Georgia, and began his present technology consulting practice, Flocking Behavior. He has had a fascinating variety of assignments with local technology companies, with titles including Project Manager, VP of Sales, Technical Support Manager and Mechanical Trading Systems Designer/Builder. His clients include Dendrite (now Cegedim), Georgia Tech Research Institute, IBM, Izenda, Global Crypto and his own algorithmic trading venture Flocking Behavior.
He has a BA in Latin American History from Princeton University and an MBA in international marketing and finance from the University of California, Davis. As an undergraduate he studied in Bogota,Colombia. As a grad student he studied in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
